PAULO ALBERTON - FILMMAKER
 

 

In 94, Paulo left a 7-year career as a commercial airline pilot in Brazil to become a filmmaker. He completed a Certificate in Film at NYU, Queer Film Studies at WITS University in Johannesburg and a Master of Arts degree at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) specializing in documentary directing.

Broadcast credits include the 10-minutes Going To The Dogs (SBS); the half-hours Give Me A Break (SBS) and Living On (SBS) and one hour’s Swapping Lives (SBS) and Drums of Maranhão (TV Cultura – Brazil). Awards include Best Photography for Water and I; Film Australia special commendation and ATOM Best-multimedia award for Mijn Man; and Best Doco and Best Editing at Western Australian Screen Awards 2004 for Going To The Dogs.

Paulo has participated at the MIFF Accelerator Program 2005 and at the AFTRS LAMP in Perth 2006. While working as a General Manager of Goldiemedia of renowned documentary-maker David Goldie, he co-produced the “Raiding Children DVD”, which is being delivered to all Australian Families as part of the “Baby Bonus”. 

In September 07 Paulo authored the interactive DVD “Aboriginal Rules”, produced by Wirlpiri Media, which screened at ABC soon. Paulo has conducted “Producing Videos For Social Change” workshop at the Oxfam International Youth Partnerships 2007, which hosted 300 young leaders from around the world in Sydney. Apart from teaching, in 2008, Paulo worked for CAAMA as Post Cordinator for a series of TV programs to be aired on NITV. Now, While editing My Father, My Master, Paulo is post-supervising "Madame Clos" a feature documentary" by Jane Oehr.
