WELCOME
My name is Paulo Alberton. I am a Brazilian-born independent documentary filmmaker based in Sydney, Australia. Before working in film, I worked as an airline pilot. From aviation I inherited a technical mind and an interest in diverse cultures and human stories. At the moment I am editing the documentary My Father, My Master and am in the first year of a Doctorate of Creative Arts (DCA) at the University of Western Sydney.

-DOCTORATE OF CREATIVE ARTS THEMATIC REEL
The short video below is an example of the topics I am exploring on my Doctorate. I will write more details as ideas get into shape.

-MY FATHER, MY MASTER
My Father, My Master is a self-funded documentary I have been shooting since Aug 2007 with the support of a few companies, friends and volunteers. This 52' doco explores the father / son, master / disciple relationship between Mestre Roxinho and Mestre Virgilio within the world of Capoeira Angola. This project is at rough cut stage beautifully evolving and changing (very slowly) in a jugling act between full time Doctorate, paid work and little personal life. At the moment this means a couple of hours a week for writing and recording narration, shooting time lapse images, and considering soundtrack. I apologize to those who already purchaced the DVD for the delay in the delivery. It has been a long and laboursome process to produce it without finance, but the journey has also been very insightful. Keep tuned here for more updates.
