SYNOPSIS

Zakhi gets in a taxi bus in Johannesburg and travels to small towns in South Africa making contacts in hair saloons. He meets different people and goes to different places. This 4000km-road trip shows us a different kind of homosexuality, away from the mainstream scene known to most of us, but nonetheless with much style, especially when it comes to hair. In this documentary, the focus is on the black man in the townships. The strong presence of the church, of music and of tribal traditions make up interesting characters that interact harmonically with their local communities. It was based on a research done by the Gay and Lesbian Archives of South Africa (GALA) on the effect of the new constitution on the life of gay and lesbian people in small towns.
